Peppol e-invoicing is live in Temponia: send compliant e-invoices in one click

Belgian B2B invoices must be structured e-invoices since 2026. Temponia now sends Peppol e-invoices in one click: no codes to look up, compliant by construction, with delivery status on every invoice.

E-invoicing became the law. We made it a button.

Since 1 January 2026, structured electronic invoicing is mandatory for B2B invoices between Belgian VAT-registered businesses. A PDF in an email no longer counts: invoices have to travel as structured documents over the Peppol network, and the grace period ended in April. Temponia now takes care of all of it. You write the invoice exactly like before, and send it as a fully compliant e-invoice in one click.

What is Peppol, in one paragraph

Peppol is the secure network that European businesses and governments use to exchange electronic invoices. Instead of emailing a PDF and hoping it lands in the right inbox, your invoice is delivered as a structured document straight into your client’s accounting software. No more retyping, no more lost invoices, and instant confirmation that it arrived. Belgium is today the largest Peppol country in the world, with over two million registered businesses.

How it works in Temponia

We built the whole flow around one principle: you should not need to know anything technical about Peppol.

  • Activate once. Go to Invoice settings, click Enable e-invoicing, and complete a short one-time identity verification. That is the whole setup.
  • No codes to look up. Your Peppol address is determined automatically from your VAT number, and the same goes for your clients: add their VAT number and country, and Temponia knows where to deliver.
  • Reachability shown upfront. Temponia checks the Peppol directory and shows a badge on each client, so you know before sending whether they can receive e-invoices.
  • Send from the invoice. Every invoice gets a Send via Peppol button next to the familiar options. You see the delivery status right on the invoice.
  • Compliant by construction. Invoices are generated in the official European format (EN 16931 / Peppol BIS 3.0), including correct VAT breakdowns per rate, even when different lines carry different VAT percentages.

The rest of the invoice got better too

While we were at it, we gave invoicing a broader upgrade. Invoices are numbered automatically, you can add free lines for fixed fees or discounts with their own VAT rate, and every invoice can be downloaded as a polished PDF or emailed to your client with your own logo and accent color on it. The e-invoice, the PDF, the web invoice and the email all come from the same place: your timesheets.

Beyond Belgium

Belgium is first, not alone. France rolls out its e-invoicing obligation from September 2026, Germany requires issuing from 2027, and the EU has set 2030 as the date for structured e-invoicing on all cross-border B2B invoices. Everything we built follows the shared European standard, so as these deadlines arrive, Temponia customers are already done.

One more thing worth asking your accountant about: Belgian small businesses can temporarily deduct the costs of e-invoicing software at 120 percent, which makes this a particularly good moment to switch.
